Days before the ruling Congress party’s mega event at capital Raipur, Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Ashok Juneja has requested the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the killing of three BJP leaders by Maoists in Bastar.
In a letter to the federal investigation agency, Ashok Juneja requested an investigation into the killings of three public representatives in Bastar in quick succession. The three BJP leaders were killed in Bastar last week.
DGP wrote that Naxalites were enraged because of continuous shrinkage in Maoist territory. This is the reason they are targeting public representatives and common people with vengeance.

“The efforts of Central security forces and the state police have resulted in successful elimination of Naxalites in the past years,” he claimed.
The killings snowballed into a political slugfest with the Opposition BJP alleging that its workers were being targeted to thwart political process in the restive region.
