‘Beating Retreat Ceremony’ marks the culmination of the four-day-long Republic Day celebrations.

29 captivating and foot-tapping Indian tunes are being played by the music bands of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the State Police and the Central Armed Police Force during the Beating Retreat Ceremony in New Delhi.

The Beating Retreat Ceremony traces its origin to the early 1950s when Major Roberts of the Indian Army indigenously developed the unique ceremony of display by the massed bands.
A novel drone show was one of the major attractions of this year’s Beating Retreat ceremony.
For the first time, the drone show was made a part of the Beating Retreat ceremony to commemorate 75 years of Independence, being celebrated as ‘Azadi Kaa Amrit Mahotsav’.
The 10-minute drone show involving around 3,500 drones fabricated through indigenous technology is a part of the Beating Retreat ceremony.
