Death audit of road accident fatalities compulsory in Bengal
Death Audits in case of fatalities in road transport accidents (RTAs) will be compulsory in West Bengal, as per the latest order from the state Health Department.

An old woman among 15 people admitted to a hospital for treatment of their injuries they sustained in building collapse died. The five- story building that collapsed on Tuesday evening was located in the Hazratganj area in the state capital.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a three-member inquiry committee was formed to inquire into the incident. The committee comprises Commissioner Lucknow Roshan Jacob, Joint Commissioner of Police Lucknow Piyush Mordia and Chief Engineer PWD Lucknow. It will submit its report within a week fixing accountability for the collapse of the building.

On the other hand, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Abbas Haider’s mother Begum Haider (72 years) passed away in a similar incident this morning. She was shifted to a civil hospital for medical care last night, but despite all the efforts of the doctors, could not be saved.
A notice has been served to the builder and the contractor of the ill-fated Alaya Building situated at the Wazir Hasan Road.
DGP DS Chauhan told media persons here that rescue work is going on continuously as there could be one or two persons still trapped under the debris.
“We have rescued 14 people and shifted them to the hospital. But two people might still be trapped in the debris,” he said.
Chauhan confirmed that one elderly woman during treatment died so far.
A total of 12 teams of NDRF and SDRF are engaged with police and fire brigade personnel in the rescue work.
“The cause of the accident will be known only after investigation and reports of the incident due to the earthquake is just speculation . But we have found that the quality of building construction was very poor,” DGP disclosed.
