The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly started its Budget session on Monday on a stormy note, where Speaker Dr C P Joshi expelled 3 MLAs of Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) for the day as they created ruckus on the floor by staging protest, shouting slogans demanding CBI probe into the incident of question paper leak forcing the Governor to stop his opening address halfway.

Those who faced the action include Indira Devi, Pukhraj Garg and Narayan Beniwal. As the marshals snatched away a placard from a woman MLA and touched her arm, the BJP MLAs objected to it and then 3 women security members pushed her towards the exit gate.

The Opposition BJP and RLP MLAs raised the demand for a CBI probe into the question paper leak case and thus disrupted the scene as Governor Kalraj Mishra was reading out his opening speech. The Governor stopped the speech midway and left the House.

As the House assembled at 11 in the morning with the Governor’s speech, Leader of Opposition, G C Kataria stood up alleging that the Congress Government in Rajasthan has been playing with the careers of lakhs of students, where even the question papers are not protected. “You (Speaker) have the responsibility of protecting the constitution, how will it work like this”, Kataria asked.

BJP and RLP MLAs rushed to the well waving placards demanding CBI probe and some of them stepped up on the Secretary’s dias triggering noise, where the Governor could not continue with his speech.

Senior Minister Dr B D Kalla tried to pacify the protesting legislators and urged them at least to respect the Governor’s address.

After 3 RLP MLAs were expelled, the House observed 2 minutes of silence for obituary references. The House was adjourned after 1 hour and 12 minutes. A newly elected MLA of Sardarshaharm Anil K Sharma took oath in the House.

Outside the House, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot told the media that the BJP did not want to let the benefit of his Government reach the public. As the BJP legislators have no issue to deal with, in public and in the assembly, hence they did not hear the Governor’s address and got busy in ‘Dhamalpatti’ (ruckus), Gehlot said.

“Our Government is more worried on such paper leak matters, arrested most of the accused, dismissed the accused employees, the students indulged in paper leak were debarred from their future competitive examinations, and the JDA had demolished the inappropriate property of the fleeing accused in Jaipur. We have given jobs to 3.5 lakh youth, was it not sufficient? The whole thing is that the BJP is deliberately playing tactics in house just to divert the attention of the people and gain media coverage”, said the Chief Minister.
