The Odisha Health Department on Friday de-empanelled the Cuttack-based South Point Private Hospital from the Biju Swasthya Kalyna Yojana, (BSKY) after the hospital authorities were accused of collecting money for the renewal of BSKY health insurance cards.

According to an official statement, “The Swasthya Mitra, deployed to the hospital has been disengaged. The District Administration has been requested to shift the patients undergoing treatment under the BSKY in the hospital to appropriate the BSKY-empanelled private hospital or to the Government facilities for further continuance of uninterrupted treatment.”

The State team has been instructed to further investigate the claims raised by the hospital earlier vis-a-vis claims scrutinized by the Claim Panel Doctors of State Health Assurance Society. Intensive patient feedback is being collected through the outbound calls to past patients at the South Point Hospital in order to check past fraud, if any, reads the statement.

The families, having smart BSKY cards and those enrolled under the Food Security Schemes, are entitled to get the benefits of the healthcare scheme.

Meanwhile, the state government has directed all the collectors and district magistrates to take stringent action, if any fraud is detected, over extending the benefits under the healthcare scheme to the people.

Notably, the Cuttack Urban Police on Tuesday arrested five persons including the owner of the private hospital on the charge of embezzling the BSKY card funds by taking for ride gullible residents of the Bayalish Mouza area.
