Central delegation visits Kanksha, inspects gram panchayat
A delegation from the central government visited the Bid Bihar Gram panchayat under Kanksha Block of West Burdwan district today to assess the work of the area.
Giving the information at the 3rd National Conference of Heads of Investigative Agencies, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said with the changing nature of crime, the use of latest techniques has become necessary for the police.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Thursday said the Central government has approved the continuation of the umbrella scheme of more than Rs 26,000 crore for a period from 2021 to 2026 for modernisation of the police forces.
He said that the Government of India was constantly making efforts to modernise the police.
Inaugurating the 3rd National Conference of Heads of Investigative Agencies here, Rai said that investigation and prosecution were the pillars of the rule of law. Therefore, it was necessary to lay emphasis on investigation and prosecution to establish the rule of law.

He said the state-of-the-art technology and mutual coordination were very important to empower the police. At present, with the changing nature of crime, the use of latest techniques has become necessary for the police.
Stating that the police are also the caretaker of the peace and harmony of the nation, he said in such a situation, it was the need of the hour to strengthen the police intellectually, physically and organizationally and transform it into a smart force.
Hailing the work done by the police during Covid and created a positive image of them among the people, the Minister said that it was necessary to prepare police to deal with chemical and biological disaster and training plays an important role in this.
