The country’s largest city forest is coming up in the temple city of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. The state Forest Department is developing Saubhari Nagar Van in 130 hectares of land near Sunrakh village of Vrindavan.
The work on this ambitious project of the state government is being carried out collectively by Mathura District Administration, Uttar Pradesh Brij Teerth Vikas Parishad, Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority and Forest Department.
The Forest Department is making the city forest by planting more than 76,000 saplings in two phases. In the first phase, 76875 saplings have been planted by the Forest Department in an area of 123 hectares. About 25 types of trees of mythological importance of Braj have been planted in this forest.

Regional Forest Officer Brijesh Singh Parmar said here on Sunday that in the coming time this city forest will also have a park to attract pilgrims and tourists to this forest. This park will have a jogging track, swing and other facilities for children.
This project will lead to the development of eco-restoration and at the same time, the problem of monkeys will also be solved. In future, arrangements will be made to keep monkeys in this forest, said an official.
