Centre sanctions Rs 44.8-crore aid to flood-hit Sikkim
The Centre has constituted an inter-ministerial team to assess the damage caused by the glacial lake outburst flood in the state.

In a significant boost to the peace process in Manipur, the Centre and the government of Manipur on Tuesday signed a Cessation of Operation Agreement with the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), an insurgent group of the state.
The agreement was signed by senior officers of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Manipur and the representatives of ZUF in the presence of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The ZUF has been active in the state for more than a decade.

The agreement provides for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the armed cadres. A Joint Monitoring Group will be constituted to oversee the enforcement of the agreed ground rules, a statement said.
