At least three villages in every district of the state will hold Janata Chaupal on every Saturday to redress the grievances of the villagers, announced Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Rural Development Keshav Prasad Maurya here on Tuesday.
He has also instructed state officials that 8.63 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) allotted by the Centre for UP should be completed before December 2023. Besides, a time limit should be set for completing the works of the MP and MLA funds, he said.

Maurya made these announcements while addressing a DRDA meeting of all the project directors of the state here.

The Deputy CM directed that the Janata Chaupal should be organised in three gram sabhas on every Saturday in the districts. That the development works underway or done in the village will be inspected before the Janata Chaupal along with solving the problems of the villagers after taking their suggestions.
He said videography of the Janta Chaupal should also be done for reality check of the facilities like toilets, 90-day employment under MNREGA, free gas connection, free electricity connection, Ayushman card and Har Ghar Nal Yojana.
The deputy chief minister said for the first time in the state, disabled people have been brought under the priority category for providing housing.
He asked the officers to prepare such a model of development like that of the Gujarat with coordination, in which there should be no difference between village and city.
During the meeting, he gave orders to immediately suspend the project director DRDA of Sant Kabir Nagar district after receiving serious complaint against him.
