Suvidha camp held to redress public grievances
A total of 77 grievances were received from the public in the camp by the officers concerned, as per the civic body.
The workshop was aimed at prevention of sexual harassment at work place.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vigilance and the Public Health Department, on Wednesday, organised a sensitisation workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at work place at NDMC Convention Centre, here.
The workshop was taken by Additional Secretary Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
Dr. Praveen Kumari Singh explained the origin and provision of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act 2013. She explained the origin of Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment Act 2013(POSH) from the incident of Bhawri Devi in Rajasthan in 1992, Vishakha Guidelines issued by Supreme Court of India in 1997 and thereafter finally emerging the Act in 2013.

She also explained the redressal mechanism of complaints, the composition as well as authority of the internal committee to deal with complaints.
Dr. Singh stressed on the importance of awareness and education for reducing complaints and creating a healthy work environment.
The workshop was a proactive initiative undertaken by NDMC towards creating a safe work environment for women employees.
The workshop was attended by CVO, NDMC – Garima Singh, Director (Vigilance) – R N Singh and Chief Medical Officer – Dr Shakuntala Srivastava, Dr Gunjan Sahai and Senior Medical Officer – Dr Vijay Patel along with sanitation staff from all circles of NDMC.
