A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) hybrid terrorist accompanying police for identifying a hideout on Sunday was killed during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in north Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Cheki Dudoo area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district following specific input about the presence of terrorists, police said.
“When the search party reached the hideout, terrorists opened fire which hit the hybrid terrorist of LeT Sajjad Tantray of Kulgam, who was with the search party for identification of the hideout. He was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, said police.
Police said that “during investigation hybrid terrorist Sajjad Tantray, who was earlier a terrorist associate of LeT and released from detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) revealed that he had attacked two outside labourers on 13 November at Rakhmomen, Bijbehara in Anantnag, in which two labourers from Gorakhpur in UP got seriously injured.
Later on, the labourer namely Chota Prasad succumbed to injuries on 18 November at Hospital. Weapons of offence (Pistols) and vehicles used in terror crime were also recovered on his disclosure. The investigation is going on vigorously to arrest more terror associates of this module.
Army, CRPF and SOG of J&K Police have cordoned off the area and the encounter was going on with terrorists.
Meanwhile, Army (2RR) and Srinagar Police arrested three hybrid terrorists along with a huge consignment of 3 AK rifles, 2 Pistols, 9 Magazines and 200 rounds from the outskirts of Srinagar. The investigation is going on, said police.
