Suspecting her live-in partner of having a relationship with another man, a jeweller’s son strangled her to death in Southeast Delhi. The deceased is identified as Gulshana (22) was married and was mother of a child, but was living separately from her husband for the past one year.

A case was registered at the Sarita Vihar police station and the accused Rahul (30) was nabbed from the Aali jungle on Wednesday. Further investigation into the matter is being initiated. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast Delhi), Esha Pandey said, information was received at Sarita Vihar police station on November 11, from Madanpur Khadar. The caller informed them that a woman was lying unconscious inside his tenant’s room.

A police team immediately reached the spot and found that the room was locked. Police team force opened the door and rushed the woman to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

During preliminary inquiry, no external injury was found visible on the body. The caller namely Param Bidhuri stated that he is the owner of the house and one Rahul was living as a tenant in the room for the past 20 days.

He further said that on November 11, he received a call from Rahul who requested him to visit his room, as he was outside, saying that his girlfriend had got unconscious due to an epilepsy attack and needed help. This is when he made a PCR call and informed the police.

It was said that the family of Rahul was also living at Madanpur khadar. During the inquiry, brother of Rahul namely Parveen stated that the woman namely Gulshana, mother of a 1-year-old daughter was in relation with Rahul.

Initial proceedings to ascertain the cause of death was initiated and post-mortem (PM) was conducted. The PM report suggested that the cause of death was strangulation.

Accordingly, a case of murder was registered at Sarita vihar and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation police started tracing suspect Rahul and eventually he was apprehended on November 16 from Aali Jungle area, Delhi.

During the interrogation, accused Rahul revealed that he had an extra marital affair with the deceased, who used to visit his room with her child occasionally. He had doubts that she had an affair with another person, who resides at Madanpur khadar area.

According to accused Rahul, he had Quarrel with Gulshana a day before for Rs. 5000. During the scuffle, he strangled her with her Chunni, leaving her dead.

After killing the lady, accused Rahul fled the spot with the deceased’s daughter. Later, the girl child was handed over to the mother of the deceased.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
