Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has, on Tuesday, said governors are not rubber stamps.
Speaking at a function in Thiruvananthapuram, organised in connection with the LokAyukta day, the Tamil Nadu governor said governors should not allow weakening the of anti-corruption bodies like the LokAyukta.
It is the duty of the Constitutional authorities like Governors to ensure that the bodies like LokAyukta are not being sabotaged.
The Tamil Nadu governor made the statement at a time when the tussle between the LDF government and the Kerala Governor has reached a flash point. State law minister P Rajeeve was also on the stage when RN Ravi made the statement.
It may be mentioned that Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has not signed a bill diluting the powers of the Kerala Lok Ayukta, passed by the Assembly.
Tamil Nadu government and Governor RN Revi are also in a tussle on a number of issues.
