HC interim bail to Bogtui massacre mastermind for daughter’s marriage
The Kolkata High Court has granted seven days interim bail to Anarul Hossein, one of the key accused in Bogtui murder case for his daughter’s marriage ceremony on Tuesday.
The university administration has failed to fix the responsibility of the procedural lapses … the accused was neither heard nor given a copy of the complaint or notice, says JUTA
The Jammu University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) on Wednesday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of Dr Satish Chandra, an Associate Professor of Psychology, under suspicious circumstances. Dr Chandra was found hanging in his office room on September 7.
As their talks with Vice Chancellor Dr Umesh Rai remained inconclusive, the JUTA said that they were not satisfied with the decision for an SIT probe as it might come under the pressure of the various stakeholders. The JUTA on Wednesday decided to extend their pen down strike for another five days.
In a statement, the JUTA said that it was demanding a fair probe into the first ever such incident of suicide by a teacher of the university.

“JUTA strongly believes and feels that the administration has failed to fix the responsibility of the procedural lapses. It also demands immediate removal of officials at the helm of affairs from their respective positions,” said the JUTA.
“The principle of natural justice was grossly violated. JUTA questions the ‘haste’ in which the suspension was ordered within six days of the receipt of the complaint, whereas the regulations provide seventeen days to the respondent for giving his or her response to the complaint,” the JUTA further said in the statement.
The JUTA firmly stands for ‘zero tolerance against sexual harassment’ but the rules and regulations of JUICCASH should be followed strictly. The JUTA feels that in this case, the accused was neither heard nor given a copy of the complaint or notice, the statement added.
