Chand Bardai (1148-1191)
He was an Indian poet who composed Prithvi Raso, an epic poem about the life of Prithvi Raj Chauhan he was one of the greatest poets of Aadi Kaal. He is recognised as one of the first Hindi poets in India, his creation Prithvi Raso was the first epic poem in Hindi.
Tulsi Das (1543-1623)
Tulsi Das also known as Goswami Tulsidas was a Ramanandi Vaishnava saint and poet Renowned for his devotion to lord Rama he belongs to bhakti kaal. He is the author of the epic Ram Charitra Manas re-tiling of the Sanskrit epic Ramayana in the Awadhi dialect in Hindi. He rued several popular works in Geetawali, Dohavali, Hanuman Chalisa, etc.
Kabir Das (1440-1518)
He was an Indian majestic poet and saint, whose writing influenced the Hinduism bhakti movement. He was an Indian Muslim but he was strongly influenced by his teacher the Hindu Bhakti leader Rama Nanda. Kabir’s verses are influenced by the Hindu Bhakti movement and are also included in the Sikh holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib. Some of his important works are Kabir ke Dohe, Rekhtas, Kabir bijak, Anurag Sagar, and Kabir Bani.
Malik Muhammad Jayasi (1477-1542)
Malik Muhammad Jayasi was an Indian Sufi poet and saint who was blind in one eye. His most famous work is Padmaavat based on Alauddin Khilji’s attack on Chittor after learning about Rani Padmavati.
Makhanlal Chaturvedi (1889- 1968)
Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi also called Pandit Ji was an Indian poet, writer, playwriter, essayist, and also a journalist for his NEO-Romanticism Movement during India’s struggle for independence. His outstanding works are Himkritini, Yagcharan, Him Tarangini, and some poems like Venu lo Gunje, Dhara, and Deep se Deepavali.
Maithli Sharan Gupt (1886-1964)
He was one of the greatest Hindi poets in India he was a religious person and most of his writing drew from Ramayana and the Mahabharata. He was also named the Rashtrakavi by Mahatma Gandhi for his book Bharat Bharati quoted during the freedom struggle.His famous works are Bharat Bharati, Panchavati, Jayadrath Vadh, and Urmilla.
