Delhi: L-G distributes offer letters to 1669 newly recruited Home Guards

In view of rising number of Covid cases in capital, Lt Governor, V.K. Saxena, who is also the Chairperson of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), directed officials to remain vigilant and not let the guard down for hospital preparedness to tackle any upsurge if happens.

Mr Saxena also emphasized upon the need for enforcement and also appealed to the people of the city to voluntarily adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

Underlining the need of enhanced testing coupled with focus on the strategy of Test, Track, Treat and Vaccinate to successfully fight the pandemic, the LG also instructed officials to ensure genome sequencing of the cases being reported so as to proactively address the prevalence of any new variant.
While appreciating the high percentages achieved in various categories of vaccination in Delhi, the LG also pointed towards the relatively low figures of precautionary doses that had been administered and advised officials to take necessary steps to enhance them through a public outreach program.
Reviewing the status of vector borne diseases, upon being informed that the Domestic Mosquito Breeding Checkers (DBCs) were manually recording the houses visited and inspection done, the LG directed for the system to be automated wherein the DBC concern could instantly upload a picture of the house and its residents visited along with the picture of evidences of breeding/mosquitogenic condition found, if any.
Besides, the LG has also asked officials to consult experts and epidemiologists to ascertain if a new virus strain had evolved, so that it could be effectively addressed.
He directed officials of the Municipal Bodies to substantially enhance their efforts at containing the breeding of disease causing mosquitoes as also to ensure cleanliness and sanitation so that enabling atmosphere for the breeding and spread of mosquito borne diseases is checked.
