Liverpool’s new signing Takumi Minamino could make his debut for the club in Reds’ FA Cup third-round tie with Everton on Sunday.

Notably, the Japan international, who signed for Liverpool in December last year, had three sessions with the team.

“Takumi is here and had three sessions with the team now, that’s not so much. But it’s football still,” Jurgen Klopp was quoted by Liverpool FC’s official website on Friday.

“He had kind of time off when Salzburg went into the winter break, he had time off and we were not allowed to bring him here to train with us in that time. He was back in Japan, which was nice as well. He came here in a good shape. So, let’s see,” Klopp added.

Minamino, who has played for Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg, signed for Champions League holders Liverpool for a reported fee of 7.25 million pound.

The 24-year-old forward — who impressed Liverpool in their two Champions League group matches this season with the Austrian side — is believed to have signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Talking about Liverpool’s current run, riding on goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, the Reds started 2019 with a win in their Premier League tie against Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday.

With the win, Liverpool now have a 13-point advantage at the top of the Premier League table. Notably, Leicester City, who are at second place have played a game more than the Reds.
