After the inauguration of much-awaited Kartarpur corridor on November 9, connecting Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur to Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public gathering at the Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, told sources in union home ministry to IANS.
The government sources further told that the PM will address the public gathering around three kms away from the corridor.
The PM will inaugurate the Corridor and the Passenger Terminal Building. However, whether the PM will flag off the first ‘jattha’ (group of devotees) visiting the Kartarpur Sahib is yet to be confirmed. It is to be noted that in the first jattha, former PM Manmohan Singh will also travel.
India and Pakistan had signed an agreement to operationalise the historic Kartarpur Corridor. The Corridor will allow the devotees a visa free visit to the holy Darbar Sahib in Pakistan. The work to operationalise the Corridor is almost done and it is set begin next month post inauguration by the PM. Perhaps, the issue of $20 fee imposed by the Pakistani side is still unresolved.
