One of the most auspicious and sacred festivals of Hindus, Diwali, has almost arrived. This year, it falls on October 27. The festival and its celebrations usually last for five days, among which the third day is Diwali.
Lakshmi Puja is one of the important rituals performed on this day. The ritual is performed to invite the Goddess of wealth at home. Prayers are offered to Goddess Lakshmi.
There is a procedure to do Diwali puja at home. While most of us worship Goddess Lakshmi on the day of Diwali, it’s actually a daily ritual. One of the simplest ritual one can follow is to light an oil lamp in front of Goddess Lakshmi. This will bring peace, wealth and prosperity to your house.
Before starting the puja, one needs to clean their house and sprinkle Ganga Jal to purify the surroundings. One must set up a platform-like structure and spread the red cloth over the top, placing the ‘Kalash’ on it. One must fill around 75 percent of water into the ‘Kalash’ along with other essential puja samagri (essentials).
Later, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are to be placed on the platform. One can also place tools, pens, papers, business-related stuff near the idols. Panch Mukhi (five-faced) diya should be lit up. One can start aarti, and chant Diwali mantras followed by the puja.
This year, the puja muhurat for conducting the auspicious Lakshmi Puja is between 06:42 pm to 08:12 pm.
