Playing the hardball with “Big Brother” BJP, Shiv Sena has once again mentioned the 50-50 formula with the results of the Maharashtra Assembly Election set to be declared later in the evening.

Addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said: “We reached formula when Amit Shah came to my house, now time to implement that formula.”

While speaking about the 50-50 alliance formula, Thackeray said, “The main question is, who will be the chief minister?”

He further said that they will decide on the alliance formula soon, adding that his party’s aim is to give the people a good government.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray also said that the mandate in Maharashtra is an eye-opener for many.

He said that he is not desperate for power and added that his party has learnt from the lesson the public gave them.

Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray’s son and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray won from Worli, the constituency that marks his electoral debut. The 29-year-old is the first from the Thackeray family to make debut in electoral politics.

However, Shiva Sena lost its prestige seat, Bandra East, as Congress’ Zeeshan Siddique was leading against Mumbai Mayor and Shiv Sena candidate Vishwanath Mahadeshwar in the 18th round.

Earlier in the day, the BJP ally had indicated that it will insist on the 50:50 formula during government formation.

After observing trends where the Shiv Sena has already won 2 seats and is leading on 58 seats, party leader Sanjay Raut spoke of 50-50 formula, which he said was agreed upon before the election.

Sanjay Raut had earlier on Wednesday said its ally BJP would not be able to form the next government without the support of the Uddhav Thackeray-led party.
