Dhanteras, also known as Dhanatrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi is a festival celebrated two days before Diwali and on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Karthik. It is considered auspicious to buy gold, silver or utensils on the day of Dhanteras. This year, Dhanteras falls on October 25.

Broom

Buying broom on the day of Dhanteras is very auspicious. It is believed that buying a broom on the day removes all the financial problems associated with the home. The broom purchased on this day should be used for worship on the day of Diwali.
Electronic Items
Shopping of electronic items on Dhanteras is also considered auspicious. On this day, you can shop for mobile phones, laptops, ovens, fridges etc.
Coriander
It is believed that buying whole coriander on the day of Dhanteras brings happiness and peace to the house. While worshipping Goddess Lakshmi on Diwali, offer this whole coriander and keep it in your wallet.
Utensils
Buying utensils on this day is also a good sign. One can go for brass utensils, but silver or steel utensils can also work. After buying the utensil, keep it in the east direction of your house.
Business-related stuff
One can buy anything related to their business on this day. Worshipping these things on Diwali gives special benefits.
