Ace Jamaican sprint runner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce went on to win her fourth women’s world 100m title at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Doha.
She clocked a record 10.71 seconds on Sunday to bag the gold medal, a decade after she had won her maiden gold medal.
The 32-year-old double Olympic Gold medallist was ahead in the race after three strides in the final. The event was preceded by a sound and light show similar to the one which had occurred in the men’s final.

She never lost her lead which she had taken after the first three strides and crossed the fastest time run in 2019, 0.01 off her personal best which she had set as long as seven years ago. She
Dina Asher-Smith of Britain bagged home a silver medal after she broke her own national record to clock a time of 10.83 seconds. The Bronze medal was bagged by Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Ivory Coast who registered a time of 10.90. She finished a place ahead of Elaine Thompson who recorded 10.93.
“Standing here having done it again at 32, and holding my baby, is a dream come true,” the official website of International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) quoted Fraser-Pryce as saying.
“I can’t believe it. I worked so hard to be back. The field was so strong I had to come good here and I’m so excited to come out with victory,” she added.
The Jamaican athlete won her 12th overall world title and celebrated the win by parading her son Zyon, to whom she gave birth in August 2017.
