An Indian Army soldier was martyred on Tuesday when Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and firing in the areas along the Line of Control (LOC) in Mendhar and Krishna Ghati Sectors of Poonch district in Jammu.

He said the Indian Army responded strongly and effectively. Heavy damage to Pakistan Army posts and casualties to Pakistan soldiers have been inflicted by Indian troops.
Pakistan troops, at about 11 am, initiated ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars in Krishna Ghati Sector to which Indian Army is retaliating befittingly.
Two Indian soldiers were killed during the past fortnight due to Pakistani shelling. Four Pakistani soldiers lost their lives last week in retaliatory firing by Indian troops.
Pakistani troops have intensified cross-LOC shelling even at civilian areas after the Modi government abrogated Article 370 that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir. They have been trying to push in terrorists under the cover of border firing.
