Sealdah now sustainable station after water conservation efforts
Handling a mammoth daily footfall of more than 15 lakh, Sealdah station is also emerging as an environmentally sustainable station.
As per the plan, while the stretch between M G Road and Beliaghata Road flanks will be closed to traffic, M G Road and Beliaghata Road will be completely functional. The closure will be from 6 p.m. on 15 August to 6 p.m. on 18 August.
Kolkata Traffic Police released the detailed plans for traffic diversion during the period when the Sealdah flyover will remain close for health audit. Releasing the traffic advisory at a Press conference, DC Traffic Santosh Pandey said that traffic movement would be smooth and hassle-free during the 72 hours closure when a portion of the flyover will be closed in between Mahatma Gandhi Road and Beliaghata Main Road.
“KMDA had requested for the closure of the flyover for load testing and we have fixed that the flyover will be closed from 6 p.m. on 15 August to 6 p.m. on 18 August. We hope that traffic movement in that period will be smooth as we have made detailed plans for the traffic diversion. We have also put up hoardings on roads leading to the flyover announcing the road diversion and mentioning the parking zones,” said Mr Pandey.
