” कई पहलू है कश्मीर के । सभी सही हैं और सभी ग़लत । बस इतना जानता हूँ की जिस तरीक़े से यह सब हुआ , सही नहीं था ।” ( There are many aspects of Kashmir. All right and all wrong. Just know that the way in which all this happened, was not right.)

Stating that the story of Kashmir is like Roshomon, Kashyap elaborated that he cannot say much about Article 370 or 35A as he still does not understand the implication, history, or facts. “Article 370 या 35A, के बारे में में ज़्यादा नहीं कह सकता । इसका implication, history, या facts मैं अभी भी समझा नहीं हूँ । कभी लगता है जाना चाहिए था , कभी लगता है क्यों गया ।ना मैं कश्मीरी मुसलमान हूँ ना कश्मीरी पंडित ।मेरा कश्मीरी दोस्त कहता है कश्मीर की कहानी Roshomon की तरह है.”( Can not say much about Article 370 or 35A Its implication, history, or facts I still do not understand. It should have seemed to have never happened, why did it seem to be. I am a Kashmiri Muslim nor a Kashmiri Pandit. My Kashmiri friend says that the story of Kashmir is like Roshomon)

His comments on the repealment of Article 370 have drawn a huge response from all quarters. Netizens have reacted in varying ways.

“Overacting ke kitne paise mile hain?”, a user wrote. ” And this Bollywoodia thinks he knows everything ….Crores of Indians selected and elected and re elected that ONE man for a better future because he has a proven track record. And we are happy that you Bollywoodias are not taken seriously when it comes to things that matter,” another wrote.

A user made a different reference and wrote “you know what is scary, that One Man sitting in Dubai has entire Bollywood at his feets, have courage to speak against that person like you blabber nonsense against elected person.”

On the other hand, Article 15 and Mulk’s acclaimed director Anubhav Sinha commented on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s statement that read, “We support the govt on its decisions on J & K. We hope this will bring peace and development in the state.”

Sinha wrote,  “Peace Sir??? Really???”

The filmmaker also responded to netizens comments and questions. When a user said, ” Anubhav Sir waise toh aap itni intellectual films banate hain. But yahan seedhe mudde bhi nai samajh paate. Agar Desh unite ho raha hai toh isme Harz kya hai. Kisi Ko special status ki Kyun jarurat hai” ( “Anubhav Sir, your films are intellectual, but here you are unable to understand a simple thing. If a country is getting united, whats the problem. Why does someone need special status?”); Anubhav responded, “थोड़ा पढ़ लिख लो फिर बात करेंगे।”( Educate yourself a little, we’ll talk thereafter).

Bandit Queen fame filmmaker Shekhar Kapur also wrote on his social media handle, “Since I was in school the debate on #Artical370 has been raging. While Kashmir burnt. Innocent lives lost. How did Article370 help? Let’s now move forward as one people. One nation. With hope. Let people of #Kashmir share equally in the opportunity prosperity and growth of India.”
