At least 44 people were injured after a “tsunami-like situation” was created by a wave machine at a waterpark in northern China on Sunday.
The incident took place at the hugely popular summer tourist resort known as the Shuiyun Water Park on July 29.
Described as a “tsunami”, the huge wave can be seen sweeping away tourists, flipping many of them and their swimming flotation rings upside-down in the chaos.

According to officials, the wave machine malfunctioned and that the worker operating the machine was not intoxicated as alleged earlier.
The video shows visitors outside the wave pool, running for their lives as they realised the unusually large waves that were going to splash over the barrier.
Among the dozens injured was a woman, who sprawled on the ground with bleeding legs.
The water park is closed and under investigation.
