An expert in tackling terrorism and a former IPS officer, Farooq Khan has been appointed an advisor to the J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik.

It is learnt that Home Minister Amit Shah has handpicked Khan for the post as he had played a crucial role in tackling terrorism as IGP of Kashmir division and in Jammu. He had created a task force when terrorism was at its peak.

A 1994 batch IPS, Khan retired as IGP of Jammu in 2013. He personally led the police teams when the Raghunath Temple and the Panjbakhtar Temple here were attacked by terrorists in 2002. The terrorists were eliminated.
With this, the Governor will now have five advisors, three IAS and two IPS.
Appointment order of Khan was issued on Saturday evening.

All eyes are set on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s election rally in Gopalganj, Bihar, on Sunday, which is expected to set the narrative for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Shah appealed the armed rebels to give up their weapons, and stressed that only peace and development can bring the change.
