The top brasses viz the IG Zone Ramkumar and SSP Nitin Tiwari have been transferred in wake of the recent happenings that include lathicharge during the protest against mob lynching of Tabrez and alleged exodus of Hindus from Prahlad Nagar locality .

The new officers in command now are IG Alok Singh and SSP Ajay Sahni. While Alok Singh who was posted as IG Kanpur range will be replacing Ramkumar, known for leading the SIT in the investigation of the Syana violence.

While Ajay Sahni, 2009 batch IPS will take charge from Nitin Tiwari who has been posted now as commandent of 6th battalion PAC in Meerut. In fact the transfers of the duo officers is seen as a fallout of the recent incidents in Meerut, that could have taken a communal twist but was ultimately averted. On Sunday, a protest was carried out by a group of people in protest against the lynching of Tabrej in Jharkhand.

The protesters were trying to carry out a march reportedly without the prior permission hence the cops objected and resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob which also took to stone pelting. The following day another group staged a protest in Mawana town of the district and handed over the memorendum of their demands to the officials. The situation however was controlled by the police. Prior to this, a BJP leader raised the issue of exodus of Hindus by registering his complaint on the NaMo app. However, the police rejected his claims.

In their investigation, the police said that the issue is not that of exodus but migration due to manifold personal reasons.

It is believed that the BJP leaders were displeased withthese officers and had pushed up for their transfers. They also called the protests against lynching, failure of the local Intelligence Unit here. Also a section of the leaders wanted to raise the exodus issue of Hindus but it was diffused by the officials. IG Ramkumar had recieved appreciation during the investigation of violence in Syana of district Bulandshahr in December last year.

The violence that was the fallout of the incident of cow slaughtering in Mahab village on 3 December had claimed life of SHO Subodh Kumar Singh and a local youth Sumit. Ramkumar has lead theSIT investigation which had ended up with the arresting of 44 accused including Bajrandal leader Yogesh Raj, BJP leader Shikhar Agarwal and VHP leader Upendra Raghav.
