As part of a series of new orders being issued by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, the government has reduced the security provided to the family members of former CM N Chandrababu Naidu.

Naidu’s son and former state minister Nara Lokesh, who earlier enjoyed Z category security, will now be provided 2+2 gunmen.

Security extended to other family members has been fully withdrawn.

Earlier, Chandrababu Naidu’s security details were also downgraded.

Chandrababu Naidu has Z+ security (24-hour security with armed NSG personnel and escort vehicle), but two vehicles have been reduced from his convoy.

Last week, the former CM had to undergo frisking at Gannavaram Airport and was also denied VIP access to the aircraft and had to travel in the bus along with common passengers.

Naidu’s security was increased to Z+ after he was attacked by armed Maoists in Tirupati in 2003.

Jagan’s YSRCP cruised to a landslide victory in Assembly elections in the state – its first since the 2014 bifurcation. His party won 151 of the 175 seats in the Assembly.

Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) could manage to win only 23 seats. The TDP was also routed in the Lok Sabha elections, bagging just 3 of the 25 seats in the state.

After taking charge as the CM, Jagan revoked the order issued by the previous TDP government, barring the CBI from conducting raids in the state without its permission.

In an unprecedented move, the then government headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu had issued GO number 176, barring the CBI from conducting raids or carrying out investigations in the state without its permission.

In the latest development, Jagan Reddy ordered the demolition of Praja Vedika, an extension of his predecessor N. Chandrababu Naidu’s residence at Undavalli in Amaravati.

Stating that Praja Vedika was a structure built in violation of the rules by the then Chief Minister, Jagan Reddy declared that his government’s drive against illegal structures will begin with the demolition of this structure on Wednesday.
