A cave on the Kedarnath hills is attracting all the attention today, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day tour of Uttarakhand, chose to meditate in the Kedarnath cave on Saturday and spend the night there.
Located at an isolated spot, the meditation cave was not visited by many, apart from selected sadhus, till now. The renovation of the Kedarnath cave got completed only last year.
Some construction work had been done on the front portion of the cave earlier but the chamber received an improved and attractive look only last year.

Traditional hill architecture was used for modification of the structure. Cut stone was used on the front and the roof was made with slate stone, with an attached toilet adding luxury to the cave.

Earlier, cement and stone were used to create the outside wall of the cave. a A cut stone wall replaced it later.
The Uttarakhand government plans to develop many more such chambers, to be utilised by spiritual seekers.
Ahead of the last phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and verdict, PM visited the Kedarnath shrine on the Garhwal hills of Uttarakhand on Saturday morning and offered prayers. Earlier, he arrived at Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport and took a chopper ride to Kedarnath.
Donning the traditional ‘pahari cap’ of Himachal along with a grey suit with a saffron ‘gamchha’ around his waist, PM Modi also reviewed the redevelopment projects at Kedarnath, which was extensively damaged in the June 2013 flashfloods. He held a meeting with Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar to discuss the projects.
