Stage set for polling in crucial UP by-elections tomorrow
A total of 34 lakh voters will decide the fate of 90 candidates contesting the bypolls from nine assembly constituencies.
With one day remaining for the seventh and final phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Saturday, called upon Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
Naidu had met the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in New Delhi on Friday.
Naidu met Rahul at his residence in New Delhi. According to sources, the post-poll scenario was the top agenda of the meeting between the two leaders.

The TDP chief, on Friday, had met CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Aam Admi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Naidu has been trying to bring together Opposition parties even before the general elections commenced to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and to possibly stitch an alliance that would form the government if the BJP-led NDA falls short of the majority mark.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister has said that he would welcome any party to be a part of an alliance against the BJP, once the election results are declared, including its bitter rival, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
“Will welcome any party for anti-BJP alliance, including TRS,” said Naidu.
Later in the day, Naidu would be meeting Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati.
Naidu would be leaving for Lucknow around 2.45 pm and is expected to meet Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav after attending a programme in Lucknow around 3.45 pm, TDP sources told IANS. Naidu will return to Andhra Pradesh at around 7 pm, the source said.
The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, which began on April 11, will conclude on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
