Live News: Over 57.33 per cent of 2.47 crore voters cast their vote in 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani were in the fray. Rajasthan recorded 63.78 per cent polling in 12 seats, Madhya Pradesh recorded 63.88 per cent in seven seats, Bihar recorded 57.86 per cent in five seats, and Jharkhand recorded 63.72 per cent in four seats.
Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Phase 5 Live Updates: The 2019 General Elections enter their fifth phase today with nearly 9 crore voters set to decide the fate of 674 candidates in all. As many as 51 Lok Sabha constituencies in seven states are going to polls today, and among the high profile contestants are Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh (Lucknow), Congress president Rahul Gandhi (Amethi), UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi (Rae Bareli) and Union Minister Smriti Irani (Amethi).
At 8:15 pm, according to the Election Commission of India website, the overall voter turnout stood was 62.46 per cent.
Stakes are high for the ruling BJP and its allies who had swept 40 of these seats in 2014. Only two for these 51 seats had been won by the Congress (Amethi and Rae Bareli), while the Trinamool Congress had bagged seven.

In Uttar Pradesh, 14 seats are voting today, while Rajasthan has 12 constituencies going to polls, besides seven each in West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, five in Bihar and four in Jharkhand . In Jammu and Kashmir, polling will take place in Ladakh and Anantnag, which will see its third phase of staggered polling. Pulwama and Shopian districts of Anantnag seat will vote today.
