6 killed, 5 injured in road accident in Himachal

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the accident and directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the next of the kin of the victims.

Six persons were on Thursday morning killed while five others suffered injuries after a jeep in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in Padhar area of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, around 170 km from here.

Police said the incident took place near Faguni village when the jeep carrying 10 persons to Padhar from Ropa village in Mandi district skidded off the road.

The ill-fated vehicle fell into a 250 feet deep gorge after the driver lost control over the vehicle in which six persons were killed on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Roop Lal (48), his wife Lajji Devi (47), Fithu Ram (75), Jathi Devi (32), Shivani (19) and Sunni Devi (52).

The injured have been identified as driver Pawan (30), Anita (21), Mohan Singh (57), Urmila Devi (12) and Khushal (9). They have been rushed to a hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the accident and directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the next of the kin of the victims. He also directed that best medical treatment is provided to the injured and also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
