2036 Olympics and Paralympics: India formally submits Letter of Intent to IOC
There has been no official confirmation yet but according to reliable sources, the letter was submitted on October 1 with Ahmedabad as the likely host city.
The release said India has also proposed that a technical level discussion on the alignment of the corridor be also held on the same day on the sidelines of this meeting.
Amid the current Indo-Pak tension, India has agreed to hold a meeting with Pakistan on 14 March to finalise the draft agreement for the Kartarpur Saheb Corridor in keeping with its decision to operationalise the corridor.
However, the meeting would be held on the Indian side of the Attari-Wagah crossing point and not in New Delhi as was announced by Islamabad on Tuesday.
“In keeping with the government’s decision to operationalise the Kartarpur Corridor on the occasion of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji and meet the long-pending public demand to have easy and smooth access to the holy Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib, the first meeting between India and Pakistan to discuss and finalise the modalities for Kartarpur Corridor would be held at Attari-Wagah (Indian side) on 14 March,” an External Affairs Ministry release said.
