The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has “prepared a counter” if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opts to not play the neighbouring nation on June 16 World Cup game in Manchester in the aftermath of Pulwama terror attack.
Both the BCCI and the PCB are expected to raise the issue during the ICC Quarterly meet in Dubai, starting Wednesday. PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani, MD Wasim Khan and COO Subhan Ahmad are already in Dubai to attend the various meetings and workshops.
The Executive Board meeting is scheduled on Friday and Saturday and the Indian delegation will most likely push the discussion on a letter it has sent to the ICC urging member countries to oust any member country which supports terrorism.
Many veteran cricketers have also requested BCCI to boycott Pakistan in the World Cup match scheduled for June 16.
“Pakistan’s stance is that if India wants to give a walkover, it can’t do anything about it. But it will pose a question as to what happens if both countries again qualify to meet each other in the knockout stages,” a PCB official was quoted as saying by PTI.
