Several residents in Delhi-NCR woke up to the tremors and took to Twitter to report it.

Mild tremors were felt in New Delhi and some other parts of the National Capital Region on Wednesday morning, soon after a 4.0-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck Shamli district of western Uttar Pradesh.

The earthquake occurred at 7.59 am at a depth of 6 km, and the epicentre was about 50 km from Delhi, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Around 7:05 am, Tajikistan reported a 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Kofarnihon with a depth of 10 km.

Apart from Delhi-NCR, the tremors were felt in several other parts of north India too.

No loss of life or property was reported.

Several residents who woke up to the tremors took to Twitter to report it.
