Home Minister Rajnath Singh came down heavily on the critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking in Patna on Saturday, Singh slammed the opposition parties for questioning the PM’s integrity in connection with the Rafale deal.
“Modi ji ko varshon se main janta hun, humne saath kaam kiya hai. Anya aarop jo lagana ho laga dijiye ki Modi ji ne kaam kam kiya, kaam adhik kiya, unko aur kaam karna chahiye, lekin koi ma ka laal ungli utha kar unki niyat aur imaan par sawalia nishan nahi laga sakta (I know Modi-ji for years; we have worked together. One can raise questions on the work done by him; one can also say that he should do more. But no one can raise a finger on his intent and integrity),” Singh said.
Further lauding the PM, Singh said that India’s image has risen like never before under Modi’s leadership.
“India is now seen as strong and powerful country, thanks to the work done by Modi as a Prime Minister,” he said.
Slamming Rahul Gandhi for his relentless attacks on the PM over the Rafale deal, in which the opposition smells a scam, Singh said that the Congress president “is spreading false facts and illusion on the issue even after the Defence Minister explained everything in the Parliament”.
In its latest attack on the PM, the Congress had on Friday alleged that PM Modi is “directly involved in Rafale scam”.
“For more than a year, we have been saying that PM is directly involved in Rafale scam. Today it is clear that PM himself had been carrying out a parallel negotiation,” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing the media on Friday after a media report stated that the Defence Ministry has expressed its strong reservations to the “parallel negotiations” conducted by the Prime Minister’s Office with France on the multi-billion dollar fighter jet deal.

“We have been saying that there should be an inquiry through JPC. Now Ministry itself has said, ‘we may advise PMO that any officers who are not part of the Indian Negotiating Team may refrain from having parallel parlays’”, he added.
