The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Yasin Malik was arrested in Srinagar on Monday morning from his residence in the Maisuma area, said the JKLF sources.

Malik’s arrest comes on the day when the separatist group, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), has called for a protest shutdown in Srinagar and adjacent areas to mark the 29th anniversary of the Gaw Kadal shootout carried out by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Gaw Kadal area on January 21, 1990, which resulted in the death of more than 50 civilians.
