Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday responded to Sharad Yadav’s fat shaming statement and said that his remark is an insult to her and all the women.

“Nothing can be sadder than this as he was always very close to our family. Youth can take cue from this to set an example…I feel insulted, this is an insult to all women,” she said after casting her vote in Jhalrapatan constituency of Jhalawar.

She has urged the Election Commission to take cognizance of the remark.

On December 5, Bihar leader Sharad Yadav had body-shamed Raje saying that she should take rest as she has gained weight.

“Vasundhara [Raje] ko aaram do, thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi [Give some rest to Vasundhara, she is tired and has gained too much weight. Earlier, she was thin],” he had said while campaigning in Rajasthan’s Alwar.

Later, he tried to clarify his statement saying that the remark was meant to be a joke.

Congress leader Sachin Pilot, on the other hand, slammed Vasundhara Raje for saying that she feel insulted. He said that the BJP leader has no basis of saying so as women atrocities have taken place under her rule in the state.

“On what basis Vasundhara is talking about women insult. Under the nose of Vausndhara, women atrocities took place. Rajasthan has been ranked number two in all India on Crime chart,” he said.
