Rajesh Kumar, SP (Rural), Meerut, however claimed that the raid was conducted collectively by Sardhana and Delhi Police.

They were accompanied by two dairy owners whose animals had allegedly been stolen. A joint team had returned to police station after arresting the accused Ramjaan and Jalaluddin.

They were later informed that two cops of Delhi police and the dairy owners were taken captive by the villagers.

“Sardhana police personnel returned to the village and rescued all those in the captivity of the villagers,” Rajesh Kumar said.

Sources said that thirteen animals were stolen from Pawan Khera Kala village of Samaypur Badli in Delhi on 4 November.

A team of Delhi Police, led by Sub-Inspector Lakhan Singh, conducted a raid following a tip that some animal smugglers from the village were involved in it.

The villagers reportedly got furious when the Delhi Police personnel raided the village with the dairy owners looking for the stolen animals which could not be recovered.

Upset villagers charged police and a group of animal owners for misbehaving with women and claimed that a woman sustained injury on head during the ruckus.

Ramjaan’s brother Salman claimed that he has been falsely implicated.
