The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday called off a two-day concert by TM Krishna in Delhi, scheduled to be held on November 17 and 18, following a campaign by right-wing trolls.

Krishna’s concert was to be part of a two-day “Dance and Music in the Park” festival at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, jointly organised by the AAI and the cultural body, SPIC-MACAY.

“We would like to inform that due to some urgent engagements, ‘Dance and Music in the Park’ programme jointly organized by AAI and @spicmacay, scheduled for 17th and 18th November 2018 has been postponed and new dates would be shared shortly. Inconvenience caused is regretted,” Airports Authority of India’s Twitter handle announced.

Earlier on November 10, the AAI had announced the Carnatic vocal performance by TM Krishna and others and had extended invitation via its Twitter handle.

Krishna had retweeted the invitation, only to trigger trolling as AAI was massively targetted for sponsoring the concert.

The tweets accused the AAI of using public funds to sponsor Krishna who was called “anti-India”, a “converted bigot” and an “Urban Naxal” among other things.

Krishna has been receiving threats and abuses from the right-wing outfits for singing Christian hymns and songs on non-Hindu themes.

However, Krishna has refused to be cowed down by such threats and had vowed in August to release a Carnatic song on Jesus or Allah every month. He is also learnt to have said he was open to singing at any venue in Delhi on November 17.
