A key AICC functionary on Thursday confirmed that the seat-sharing deal among partners of the Congress-led grand alliance for the December 7 Assembly elections in Telangana has been finalised.
AICC in charge of Telangana affairs RC Khuntia told PTI: “Seat-sharing has been finalised. It will be announced after its approval by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.”
While Khuntia did not say how many seats the Congress would contest in the polls for the 119-member Assembly, party sources have indicated that it would not be less than 90.

The grand alliance comprises the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI), apart from the Congress.
Meanwhile, TJS founder president Prof M Kodandaram said the Congress had offered his party eight to ten seats, whereas he was seeking a minimum of 12.
“Some adjustment has to happen but we are more worried about the delay (in finalising the seat-sharing formula). Delay is the major issue,” he told PTI.
According to reports, the CPI has been offered three seats, while TDP may end up getting 14 to 18 seats.
The Congress had earlier claimed that it would contest 95 Assembly seats and the remaining 24 would be distributed among the alliance partners.
Elections to the 119-member Assembly are scheduled to be held on December 7.
The list of the candidates is likely to be announced on November 9.
