The BJP and CPI-M accused the TMC government of ruling the state in autocratic manner, latest instances of which is the violence of Amdanga.

Three villages in Amdanga have become empty with all the people leaving there homes fearing attacks by the TMC-backed goons and the leaders claim that no effort is being made by chief minister Mamata Banerjee to restore peace in the area.

“She is fully aware of what is happening there and the attacks are being made on her instruction,” said BJP state president Dilip Ghosh.

Mr Ghosh said that people of the Amdanga were terrorised to leave their homes following the instruction of chief minister.

“Chief minister Mamata Banerjee instructed to form Opposition-free panchayat board as a consequence of which TMC-backed goons are indiscriminately attacking Opposition activists, leaders even MLAs,” he alleged.

Mr Ghosh on Tuesday visited Maricha panchayat in Amdanga to join a party meeting. He also criticised state food and supply minister Jyotipriya Mallick, who alleged that Opposition gathered arms and ammunition in Amadanga and brought those arms from Bangladesh. “If such allegation was true then what was police doinging and why they did not recover any arms from here,” he asked.

Violence over panchayat board formation claimed three lives in Amdanga area few days ago. Overnight violence was precipitated over panchayat board formation a Taraberia gram panchayat in the area. Two of those killed are supporters of Trinamul Congress, while the other person was an activist of CPI(M). Supporters of both TMC and CPI-M made allegations of being targeted rival parties with crude bombs.

Six persons have sustained injuries and are admitted to R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. The board formation at the panchayat has been deferred for indefinite period due to the violence. The Officer-in-charge of Amdanga police station Manas Das has been removed.
