Ace Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday scored his first competitive goal for Serie A giants Juventus against Sassuolo in Turin and then added a second in his fourth match for Italian champions.
Ronaldo’s goal against Sassuolo helped the Old Lady to a 2-1 win — their fourth victory of the season. Now Juventus are the only side in Italy’s top tier with a 100 per cent record and they are also the table toppers. CR7 was also named ‘Man of the Match’ and Juventus boss Allegri heaped praises for the five-time Ballon d’Or.
“He came very close in his first three games,” Allegri said, adding, “I think he rushed a couple of chances – it looked like he was absolutely desperate to score.”
Allegri further said: “Football has a way of evening things out and that was the story of the first goal, with the ball bouncing off the post and sitting up for him. The second goal was brilliant. I’m happy for him.”
Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also Real Madrid’s all-time highest goal scorer, has scored 450 goals during his brilliant nine years at the Bernabeu. The 33-year-old has also won Champions League three times in a row while playing for Real Madrid.
Speaking about his first goal, a delighted Cristiano Ronaldo said, “I’m very happy, Sassuolo did a good game, but we created a lot, I really wanted to score, so I’m happy.”
Cristiano further said: “Perfectionist? I missed a few goals, but this is football, the most important thing is to win. It’s normal that there was great expectations from me, but I’m working well and my team-mates help me adjust to Serie A. Champions League? Yes, it is the tournament I like the most, we hope to have luck, it will be a difficult group but I cannot wait.”
