Patanjali Ayurved forays into dairy business; will sell cow milk Rs 40 per litre, says Ramdev

Baba Ramdev ’s Patanjali Ayurved is now entering into the dairy segment. The company is launching milk and milk-based products, including curd and cheese, eyeing Rs 1,000 crore sales in the next fiscal.

Patanjali Ayurved has also ventured into frozen vegetables segment and introduced products such as sweet corn, pea and potato fingers.

“We are aiming to have a business of Rs 1,000 crore next fiscal. This fiscal, we would have a business of Rs 500 crore,” Baba Ramdev said while addressing a press conference at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday.

The Haridwar-based firm currently has a network of around 56,000 retailers.

“We are targeting 10 lakh litre of daily sales,” added Ramdev.

A regular milk packet of 1 litre will be available for Rs 40. “Our milk would be cheaper than other established brands by Rs 2,” he said.

Patanjali Ayurved also plans to introduce milk and allied products in tetra packs.

The tetra packs would also be available “20 to 25 per cent” cheaper than the products of other companies, said Ramdev.

He said the company would directly procure milk from farmers through its network and promote products from India-based breeds.

Patanjali also launched packaged drinking water under the brand name of Divya Jal, and plans to introduce natural mineral water and herb-infused water.
