Four back to back tremors rock J&K, Ladakh
No report of casualty or damage to property has been received so far.
Earthquake Today: Strong tremors felt across Northeast; moderate intensity quake hits Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana too.
An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale shook Guwahati and its adjoining areas in Assam today, the meteorological department said. No damage was reported.
The quake occurred at a depth of 13 km around 10.20 am with its epicentre in Kokrajhar district, said the India Meteorological Department.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority said there was no report of any major damage from anywhere in the state so far.

Strong tremors were felt across the states in Northeast as well as in West Bengal and even Bangladesh. In Guwahati, the tremors reportedly lasted for around 10 seconds.
Tremors were also felt in parts of Bangladesh and in Bihar.
Earlier today, a moderate intensity quake shook Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana too. Officials said there were no reports of loss of life or damage to property.
In J-K, the moderate intensity earthquake was measured 4.6 on the Richter scale and it occurred at 5:15 am, said the disaster management department.
The department said the epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 174 km at Latitude of 35.6 degree North and Longitude of 76.3 degree East, located 199 kms north of Kargil town in the frontier Ladakh region of the state.
A major earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Rikhter scale had killed over 40,000 people on both sides of the Line of Control on October 8, 2005.
In Jhajjar, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred at 5.43 am.
It was for the third time in a few days that a quake occurred in Jhajjar district.
An earthquake of medium intensity hit Jhajjar on Monday, when tremors were felt in Delhi too. A similar medium-intensity earthquake had hit the district on Sunday too.
