his day’s quota of collection from three groups. except for one, which he was scheduled to collect later in the day.

Around 3 pm, his body was found in a gunny bag dumped on the roadside.

Local residents who had first noticed the bag suspected there was something
unusual and informed the police. The police then examined the bag and found the body inside.

The body was sent for post-mortem.

A senior officer in the Howrah Commissionerate said Chakraborty, a resident of Nadia, used to work as a loan recovery agent with the Domjur branch of Bandhan Bank. He was found to have been killed using a razor sharp weapon as several injury marks on his body suggested he had been stabbed several times. The body was so brutalitised that it was difficult to identify him, said the police.

The police, however, did not throw light on the motive of the murder.

An officer, who is a member of the investigation team, said all possible angles were being probed. Whether it was rivalry or murder for gain, all angles would be probed, he said.
