External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will leave on Monday on a four-day visit to Vietnam and Cambodia to advance India’s strategic engagement with these two key ASEAN members.
In Vietnam on the first leg of her tour, she will co-chair the 16th meeting of the Joint Commission along with her Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh. She will also call on Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. She is also scheduled to inaugurate the 3rd edition of the Indian Ocean Conference.
Swaraj will leave for Cambodia on 29 August. She will have a bilateral meeting with her Cambodian counterpart Prak Sokhonn and also call on Prime Minister Hun Sen and President of Senate Say Chhum. This will be her first official visit to Cambodia.
The visit of Swaraj to Vietnam and Cambodia would provide her an opportunity to hold in-depth discussions with the political leadership on a wide range of global, regional and bilateral issues, the External Affairs Ministry said.
It would also help advance India’s strategic engagement with these countries and the ASEAN region.
