In the protest, ABVP leader Vishal Upadhyay said, “Central Government, Delhi Government and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) must roll back Metro fare hike.”
“After the Metro fare hike, travelling to college has burnt a hole in the students’ pockets”, former DUSU EC added.
“The Central government and State government cannot get away with its share of responsibility in making transport affordable for the students of Delhi,” Upadhyay said.
In a video posted by ABVP, the student leader also appealed to DU authorities to build a hostel for the students in a campus.
Students of various colleges from South Campus joined this march and supported ABVP for protesting for students’ rights.
Police were also deployed at the metro station to keep the situation under control. Students from ABVP have been canvassing for support in different colleges for the past few days.
