Team BITS, a part of BITS Pilani, with a vision of making fuel efficient cars with zero emissions participated in a challenge named Shell Eco Marathon Asia, an energy efficient competition consisting of 120 teams from 18 countries.

They have made the first Indian car to run on 100 per cent ethanol and have presented it in this year’s edition at the Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore. The mission of the team for 2019 is to increase the efficiency of the 100 per cent ethanol-fuelled car and the development of a highly effective electric vehicle.

Team BITS has been in the development of automobile engine efficiency since its inception in 2012.The team consists of 35 members from various fields and stages of engineering and sciences and has grown into a structural organisation with subsystems for power training, design and aerodynamics, vehicles dynamics and operations.

Mythology inspired

The Indian Chamber of Commerce recently hosted an interactive session with author Devdutt Pattanaik at Taj Bengal, Kolkata, where he explained how business spaces can be transformed with the knowledge of the frameworks found in mythology. He emphasised on the importance of people within an organisation and put forward the idea that traditionally, western business models are based on homogeneity of processes and a single way of conducting businesses, which is contradictory to the heterogeneous nature of Indian culture and way of life. This means creating an ecosystem where people can be vulnerable and feel secure as well as empowered.

Career prospects

Newcastle University, a research-intensive university, concluded the last session of its employability seminar held in Chennai. The seminar began in June in Delhi followed by Mumbai and Bangalore, for offer holding students considering a course of study at the university for the upcoming academic year. The seminar was arranged for students and parents to get insights on university life as well as information on career prospects during and after studying at the university. Faculty members from Newcastle University International Office, business school, engineering and biosciences were present to help students attain all the required information.

About homoeopathy

World Federation of Homeopathy recently held an international seminar at Kolkata where journalists, Samir Banerjee and Narayan Majumdar were felicitated for their mass-connect initiatives and contributions for the promotion of homeopathy. Founder and international president Prakash Mallick and presidents Partha Sarathi Mallick and Kunal Bhattacharya spoke on the various improvements of homeopathy that has occurred over the years and also its impact on general society. About 50 doctors from across India and Sahidul Islam Bhuina from Bangladesh were in attendance.
